evolve

I created evolve for a project in my sophomore year, I included what I wrote about the project then, and it still holds very true to me today. evolve is about the ever-growing process we all are in as human beings constantly being faced with challenges, problems, solutions, questions, identity, and purpose. I knew I would be coming to Point Park for college since the day I walked into my international summer dance audition in eighth grade. For the next five years, I spent my summers at Point Park and it became my happy and safe space from my ballet world. teachers and professors quickly became role models I never knew I needed and my peers became the closest friends I still carry with me today. Throughout these last three semesters, there have been many ups and downs and tosses and turns, nothing is easy especially not dance. but I have begun to find a deeper, healthier, and more positive relationship with the love and light of dance that’s been inside of me since I can remember. I wanted to include the good and bad days that naturally come with dance, relationships, and life because without the hardships we would have no room to reflect on how far we have come, no room to grow, and certainly no room to evolve. someone tell little eighth-grade marissa we are doing all right.
